I am Arianna Lyrist. I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts. And at a very young age, I was introduced to and fell in love with the arts, especially music. My grandmother was an opera singer, and my grandfather used to write Mandinathas or spoken word poems in Greek.
As far back as I can remember I started learning piano, sang in the school choir, and participated in local musical theatre productions. But even before that, I always kept a diary; actually, I still do. I wrote everything in it, about girlfriends, boyfriends, poems, and especially lyrics. One of my favorite things in the world is to sing and write. I love singing melodies and coming up with lyrics, even new lyrics to songs I already know, just for the fun of it.
Enter Adolescence. After two years of high school, I was bored and wanted to be challenged. I fell in love with the idea (the best idea at the time), to attend a high school like High School Musical. So I did some research and located boarding music and art high school, only thirty minutes away from my hometown. I applied, was accepted, and completed my last two years at Walnut Hill High School as a Classical Voice Major. Walnut Hill helped me audition and better prepared me for the rigorous music program at Belmont University in Nashville. Looking back I really enjoyed my time as a student there. Belmont offers diverse programs of study which allowed me to take classes in the areas I was most interested in; Classical Voice, Commercial Voice, and Songwriting. In four years I took several classes from each and graduated with a B.A. in Communications and Classical Voice Minor.
I went home to New England after graduation, first to save money and decide where I wanted to further pursue singing and songwriting. I thought LA, New York, or return to Nashville. I chose Nashville. Nashville has always felt like home to me and has been one of my great muses. It is a place where I’ve immersed myself and built a strong community with. For the past ten years I have performed, written, and co-written songs with many talented creatives, most of whom I now call friends.
When I am not performing or writing music, I worked various service industry jobs, from coffee shops to restaurants and for the last several years hotels. After working in the hospitality industry for many years, I became intrigued with learning more about wine. I am fascinated by production methods, winemakers, producers, and the stories behind the families, how each generation builds upon one another to further their legacy. Every history is unique and I enjoy reading in-depth about all of them. My new found passion for wine made me decide to enroll in Level One: Introductory Court of Master Sommeliers exam. I passed and have since, as wine industry people say, caught the wine bug! I am now in the process of studying for the Wine and Spirit, Education, Trust, Level Three.
All the pieces in my life have joined together, singing, writing, music, and wine; moving me forward in pursuit of something greater. This past year I decided to combine my passion for music and wine, and here we are, I am curator and host of the podcast Treble & Vine!
